What is uttarayan and how our body get adjusted to this season ? Season from January to March
In India each and everyone celebrate uttarayan as a festival by giving different names in different parts of the country . Example in North India people celebrate this as Lori festival in South India it is celebrated as Pongal in North West India it is celebrated as Uttarayan or kite festival and in Maharashtra it is celebrated as Makar sankranti. Whatever type of celebration it may be but the main reason is to protect health by varieties of food intake. Because in this season there is change in climatic condition. How? Here we go,
According to Ayurveda 6 season are described as follows
1. Shishir Ritu ( Late winter) from January to March.
2. Vasant Ritu ( Spring) from March to May.
3. Grishma Ritu ( Summer) from May to July.
4. Varsha Ritu ( Rain) from July to September.
5. Sharad Ritu ( Autumn) from September to November.
6. Hemant Ritu ( Early winter) November to January.
In Charak samhita the above 6 seasons are divided into two Categories Adankal and visarga kal.
Adankal is also termed as Uttarayan where the sun is tilted towards North.
Visargakal is also termed as Dakshinayan where the sun is tilted towards South.
Here in this blog I am sharing about details of Adankal means about Uttarayan. In Uttarayan 3 seasons are included shishir, vasant and grishma. In this season the sunlight is becoming more brighter day by day due to this condition our body become dry , rough and tough . In this season our body energy also start decreasing. In our body kapha dosha start decreasing and vata dosha start increasing.
Due to this changes in our body we start using seasame in our diet to maintain balance of Dosha. According to Ayurveda til is said to be best ingredient among all to improve smoothing effect in our body and decrease vata dosha.
Due to this reason in Maharashtra people start eating til Gul laddo to maintain health and celebrate Makar sankranti.
